There’s an amazing castle that extends for miles in every direction, and inside live tens of thousands of people. They live in their homes, go to work, ride cabs to their friend’s houses, and take their pets on walks. You wouldn’t be able to tell it was different than any other city unless you happened to find yourself by the wall that surrounds it. Some buildings look like old towers and some are flat at the top and have windows on the sides. Pipes stick out of the big gray bricks of the buildings; they are often seen spitting out steam out drooling smoke. The castle has different floors and thus has various stairs that help its inhabitants to travel between them. Somehow, every floor had a clear view of the sky and the sun light poured itself in and filled every floor. For swift travel to levels too far away to climb too, people walk or drive onto the back of a dark blue creature that does nothing but go up and down the castle walls. You place a small tool in the mouth of the creature and when it closes it’s thick blue lips it smiles and begins to float (sometimes ascending, sometimes descending). People there are happy.
One day it was proclaimed that the castle would now be one great game. A few inches above the players head was a number that sat still in the air. This number represented the experience and strength of the player. Every person in the castle started at one. If one decided not to play, they simply didn’t and no harm came to them.
Two young men were walking down the street on one of the higher floors. They were friends and talked between bites of the food they had. “What do you think of this whole thing? The game? I mean, so far people just fight and off one another. But when the fight ends both people just stand up unharmed. What’s the point?” said one of them before shoving a handful of food in his mouth. The other just looked off into the distance but finally replied “I don’t know.” He was staring at another man who’s number was flashing above his head. I bright three switched between black and white; he wanted to fight. The man decided to participate in his first match and just as he thought that, the man looking for a fight’s number stopped flashing and became a solid red three. Food fell out of the young man’s mouth when he saw his friend’s number 1 appear and become a solid blue. He spit out his food and shouted, “You’re going to play? Who are you going to play?! I don’t even see anyone! Your mom’s going to be pissed. What are you going to fight with? Salv, your mom’s going to be pissed!”
The man in the distance jumped up high and when he landed he was just a few yards away from Salv and his friend. He had a brown outfit on with a red design on it and in his hand was a long sword. Salv ran for and quickly grabbed a branch that had fallen from a tree. “A branch!? SALV!? A Branch?! This dude’s got a freaking long sword and you have a branch?”
The man ran towards Salv and swung his sword. Salv’s friend winced. Opened his eyes slowly and looked for his friend and his opponent. When he found him his jaw dropped. Salv was breathing heavily and in front of him was the man with his hand on his face, feeling the scratched the tree branch cut into him. Salv then swung the branch over and over again and the man’s cut’s were becoming deeper and deeper. The level three player became infuriated and raised up his sword. He began to glow and lights appeared around him. He was going to use an attack that is only known by players who reach level three. But while the lights were growing brighter Salv slashed the man one last time and won the fight.
Salv walked outside of his house and met up with his friend somewhere down the street. Salv raised his hand “Hey Rit.” Rit returned the greeting and the two walk towards the creature. They places some coins in its mouth and walked up it’s tail to it’s back. Rit turned to Salv, “Everyone’s talking about it you know. What happened the other day. No one can believe that a level one beat a level three. And the whole thing about you not knowing how you did it? Well that’s just bull, Salv. Oh and if my mom was a player she would have started a fight with me and killed me with her damn bare hands! When she found out we were playing she was pissed. I wasn’t even playing. But anyway, you’re a celebrity or something. Too bad most people just think it’s a rumor.” Salv looked down; they were almost at their floor. “Yeah well they’re playing the top three fights today and they sent me something saying that mine is number three. Everyone will see it.”
When they got to their floor they walked to a big plaza with a big empty space in the middle. There they played the top fights with holograms in the empty space. The first was between a woman and a man. The woman was a level four and destroyed the man by summoning monsters. The second was a man who shot missiles the size of cars at a teenage guy. Everyone was excited to see the explosion, but when the missiles were near the teenager they turned orange and froze in mid air and shot back at the man. The man blocked a few of them but because he wasn’t prepared for such a great counter spell he lost. Then they announced the third fight. Nothing happened for half a second. Then the conclusion of the even started and the crowd was wished a nice day. Salv looked at Rit and displayed the same look of confusion everyone else in the crowd had.
